An authorised center is officially certified by the brand — they use genuine parts, trained technicians, and any repair there maintains your device warranty. A local repair shop is not brand-certified and may use third-party parts. Going to an unauthorised shop for an in-warranty repair will void your remaining warranty.

Each brand maintains an official service locator. For Apple use locate.apple.com, for Samsung check samsung.com/in/support/service-center/. TrueDime cross-references all listings against these sources — but authorisation can change, so always verify on the brand’s own locator before a first visit.

Most authorised centers in India accept walk-ins. Weekday mornings are significantly faster — weekend waits of 45 minutes just to hand in a device are common. For Apple and Samsung, booking via the brand’s support portal is recommended.

Bring: (1) original purchase invoice with the seller’s GSTIN — required for warranty claims, digital copy accepted at most centers; (2) government ID (Aadhaar or PAN); (3) for smartphones, disable Find My / Device Protection before arriving — most centers won’t accept a device with remote lock active. Also do a full backup before handing it over.

Part costs are usually fixed and brand-published. However authorised service providers can add their own service fee, so two authorized centers for the same brand can quote different totals. Always ask for a written estimate after diagnosis before authorising any repair.

Screen and battery replacements: same day, 2–4 hours. Software issues: same day. Physical damage (back glass, water, charging port): 1–3 days. Complex repairs (motherboard, Face ID, camera module): 5–14 days as parts may need sourcing. Always call ahead for complex repairs.
